Job Posting: Live-to-Air Sound Engineer (P/T 1-year contract)

Live-to-Air Sound Engineer 

Accountable to the Executive Director, the Live-to-Air Sound Engineer will support the community programming initiative outlined in the CRFC Radiometers grant – this program will have a strong focus on creating connections with local businesses, musicians, and non-profit organizations throughout the Southern Alberta region and turning that content into a weekly 3hr radio program. 

Specific areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:   

  • Coordinating with the Community Content Coordinator and facilitating two monthly studio session recordings;

  • Mixing of all audio recorded from studio sessions for live-to-air and compilation CD purposes;

  • Coordinating and communicating regularly with the Community Content Creator to schedule studio sessions and live interviews;

  • Ongoing project-related marketing efforts (social media, print, on-air);

  • Recording and running live sound at annual Indigenous, Femme, POC, and LGBTQ2S+ showcase music events;

  • Assisting with annual on-air FUNdrive marketing materials (i.e. PSAs, stingers, Station IDs, ADs, radio plays, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with staff teams and volunteers 

  • Strong working knowledge of radio broadcast equipment, in particular Live-to-Air production

  • Strong working knowledge of audio production (mixing, mastering, live multi-track recording)

  • Demonstrates an eclectic and unbiased knowledge of music

  • Strong problem solving and multitasking skills

  • Video editing skills considered an asset
