🎧 Heavy, Mosh-Worthy

⏰ Wednesdays @ 10 p.m.

“I am a current UofL student and drummer of Lethbridge post-hardcore band 4BPM, and am eager to share my love of music with all who care to listen. Whether it's a blood-curdling hardcore anthem or a groove oriented post-punk banger, the theme that runs through my music choice is emotion. I am determined to give loud, unabashed music a home on CKXU while also slipping in a few of my own left field favourites. Join me at 10 p.m. on Wednesday nights for an hour of CKXU’s most visceral mosh pit.”

The 60 minute stage dive is the home of the rawest, most circle pit inducing music CKXU has to offer, but it is not constrained by what is traditionally considered heavy. From deeply emotional screamo to mind-numbing noise, the 60 Minute Stage Dive showcases it all. Featuring music from the depths of bandcamp to established artists that are staples of their genres, join Jeremy for an hour of music that is guaranteed to get you moshing no matter where you are! *Currently Rebroadcasting Archived Programming*

This show will focus on “internet music”. Internet music is, in this case, music that takes influence from the aesthetics of the internet, music that has gained popularity on online music platforms like Rate Your Music, musicboard, or general music spaces across social media. It also features new artists using the internet and social media to promote themselves. Some examples of artists are Remi Wolf, SOPHIE, Field Medic, Lil Ugly Mane, and FKA Twigs. Topics of discussion could include topics popular on social media that week and could serve to bring these topics off the internet to a different media platform.

“Topless Pizza Radio is in its third decade of programming, and I enjoy playing music you don’t hear on the other local stations. Most of my music I get from skateboard videos and magazines, which is a very wide variety of styles and artists. I love being such an important part of my community, and the university vibe is one of the best in town. The truly educated never graduate. Music is so important to our everyday life and well being. It can really change things and give a voice to those without one. There’s a reason I bring my ghetto blaster to the skate session, cause I wanna rock and roll.”

"I have a master’s in plant ecology and years of experience keeping assorted indoor and outdoor plants alive (…and also killing my fair share haha) and so I see this show as a venue through which I share this knowledge with listeners who want to keep their own plants alive and thriving, or at least alive. The content of my show will include spotlights on common indoor houseplants (orchids, monsteras, succulents, tropicals, etc.) focusing on the biology and ecology of the particular species, what they need to be kept alive and well, my experience with care of that species, and any other fun tidbits I can think of. Other topics include pest management, propagation, growing outdoor plants, how to garden in this part of the world, the general biology of different plants, ethnobotany, and any other weird botanical information I think of! Plants are one of my greatest passions and I take great joy in sharing this love with other folks."
